The October issue of Gentosha’s Monthly Comic Birz magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Hidekaz Himaruya will begin serializing his Hetalia manga in the magazine in the next issue in September. The October issue also has the latest information on the anime adaptation.
Until now, Himaruya released his manga online. He is also contributing to the first issue of the new magazine Comic Spica from Gentosha. (Gentosha already hosts the online magazine Web Spica.)
Tokyopop published the manga in North America until it shut down its North American publishing operations this past May. Funimation is releasing the first television anime seasons, the two seasons of the Hetalia: World Series television sequel, and the Hetalia Axis Powers: Paint it, White! film.

Voice actor and narrator Junpei Takiguchi passed away Monday, August 29 at 7:33 a.m. due to stomach cancer. He was 80 years old.
Takiguchi’s best known voice-acting role was Dokurobee, the head of the Dorombo Gang in the Yatterman franchise from the first anime series to the 2008 remake and even Takashi Miike’s live-action film. He was also Uranai Baba and other roles in the Dragon Ball series. From 1992 to July of this year, he narrated the popular railroad travel program Burari Toch? Gesha no Tabi on NTV for a total of 958 episodes.

The Pillows, the Japanese rock band known for songs in the anime titles FLCL, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, and Moonlight Mile, will be touring the United States in September.
The NAP Utatane tour will have The Pillows — consisting of Sawao Yamanaka (Vocal, Guitar), Yoshiaki Manabe (Guitar) and Shinichiro Sato (drums) — in a lineup with two other bands. The Japanese girl band noodles once performed as the opening act on the Delicious Bump U.S. tour with The Pillows. All Ages is a San Francisco-based punk rock band.

The battle over digital game distribution just took a turn for the ugly.
Video game retail giant GameStop has been opening up brand new PC game boxes of the critically-acclaimed shooter Deus Ex: Human Revolution and removing packed-in coupons granting free copies of the game to users of the OnLive cloud gaming service.
OnLive and Deus Ex publisher Square Enix announced the coupon deal yesterday, which would let buyers of a boxed PC copy download and play another copy of the game, for free, via OnLive’s cloud based network, a $50 value.

Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing, the second anime series in Gonzo’s Last Exile franchise, will air a special on October 7, one week before the premiere of the actual anime itself in Japan. The special program will outline the world of the anime through talk segments with the staff and cast. Aki Toyosaki (Fam), Aoi Yuki (Giselle), Ai Kayano (Milia), and other cast members will appear on the program.
The story centers around Fam, a girl from an aerial family, “and her trusted navigator, Giselle, as they pilot their vanship, Vespa, through the free and peaceful skies.” Funimation licensed the anime for North America.

The October issue of Takeshobo’s Manga Life MOMO magazine is announcing on Monday that a television anime adaptation of Ru Tatuki’s four-panel manga Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki has been green-lit. The slice-of-life manga centers around a mysterious “spherical cat” named Poyo, its family, and the people in Poyo’s everyday life.
Tatuki launched the manga in 2004, and the ninth compiled book volume shipped in February. A Nintendo 3DS game, in which the player raises and communicates with Poyo, will ship next February.
Takeshobo had previewed the cover of Manga Life MOMO’s October issue, but deliberately obscured the anime announcement on the cover until recently
