Archon 34, St. Louis Premier Sci-Fi-Fantasy Convention
For the past 15 years, Archon had been at the Gateway Center in Collinsville, Illinois but due to “artistic differences” between the hotel and the Archon staff, the con was located to a new location. This year, Archon was located at Westport Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri. Naturally, being at a new location, some people will be skeptical because the Gateway Center was such a great place.

After Koizumi’s trip to Friend Land, she became more paranoid than normal. The source of her extra paranoia is because she is being pursued by the Dream Navigators. Friend Land may sound like an amusement park, but it’s actually a “reeducation” center, where the Dream Navigators brainwash people who are becoming suspicious of the government. Due to the fact that Koizumi failed at being “reeducated”, the dream Navigators are after her. This time if they get her, she’ll go to Friend World, the ultimate reeducation center.

The Darker Than Black saga comes to an end in Volume 6, but the story of the Contractors and the Syndicate is left open for more to come. The high drama is clear evidence that the Japanese take their Anime seriously. The imagery and plot stand out and reflect a very Eastern mindset and general life philosophy.

The missing link between Anime/Manga and Sci/Fi . I was surprised when I saw this book, and really glad I picked it up. It is a four story collection, each with a different author and artist team – the human element survives in the future technical world.
